Summary:
What do Educator's Want?
During a three week sprint, as a team of three UX/UI Designers we worked closely with Click Learning’s Founder and CEO Sarah, Head of HR and Operations Emily, and Copywriter Logan. Working with Click Learning Company, our team tackled a critical challenge: a notable decline in educator engagement during the onboarding and training process on our client’s website. To address this, we embarked on a comprehensive journey to identify pain points and craft intuitive solutions. Through meticulous research and user feedback analysis, we uncovered obstacles such as complex navigation and overwhelming content. Armed with insights, we designed an immersive onboarding experience that simplified navigation, incorporated interactive elements, and provided personalized guidance. By introducing gamified modules, tailored support, and fostering a sense of belonging, we revolutionized the training process. The results were remarkable, with a significant decrease in drop-off rates, heightened engagement, and a surge in educators successfully transitioning to active tutors. Our transformative approach empowered educators and made a profound impact on the platform’s educational ecosystem.

Challenge:
From Dropout to Tutor Powerhouse
In our pursuit to unlock the full potential of Click Learning Co., a concerning statistic caught our attention: out of 28 educators who submitted applications, only 5 successfully booked tutoring sessions with students. Determined to address this challenge head-on, our team embarked on comprehensive research involving a heuristic evaluation on the site, market analysis, and user interviews. We uncovered crucial pain points and growth opportunities for Click Learning Co., shedding light on the underlying issues.
During our exploration, we identified several key pain points that hindered educator engagement and success. The length of the onboarding and training process proved to be a major hurdle, leading to drop-offs and discouragement among educators. Additionally, certain aspects of the process were unnecessarily repetitive, causing frustration and inefficiency. Another critical pain point was the lack of a personalized dashboard for educators, depriving them of insights into their progress and leaving them uncertain about where they stood in their onboarding and training journey.

Solution:
Problem Solving for Educators

Through our diligent efforts, we tackled the pressing issues faced by Click Learning Co. and crafted effective solutions to enhance educator engagement and success. By developing a high fidelity prototype, we addressed the pain points that had been hindering their onboarding and training process. The length of the process was significantly reduced, streamlining the experience and keeping educators motivated. We eliminated unnecessary repetitions, creating a seamless and efficient journey. Moreover, we introduced a personalized dashboard for educators, providing them with valuable insights into their progress and fostering a sense of clarity and empowerment. Our high fidelity prototype effectively solved these pain points, paving the way for a more engaging and rewarding experience for educators at Click Learning Co.
1. Research:
Who Holds the Key to Success?
In our quest to enhance the user experience for Click Learning Company, an educational technology platform, we embarked on a comprehensive research journey. Our exploration included various methodologies to gain deep insights into the needs and preferences of professionals working with children. Through 14 in-depth interviews with teachers, professors, and tutors, we discovered a shared desire among educators for comprehensive student information upfront, enabling them to tailor their approaches effectively for each student.
To further inform our design decisions, we conducted a meticulous heuristic evaluation of the Click Learning website, identifying pain points and usability issues. Additionally, we performed a thorough competitive and comparative analysis, examining other educational technology companies and similar platforms to understand current industry trends and best practices. Furthermore, we conducted a task analysis, scrutinizing the onboarding and training process on the Click Learning website, mapping out each step to identify areas for improvement.

2. Discovery:
The Personification of Educator's Needs
Through a combination of interviews, heuristic evaluation, competitive analysis, and task analysis, we uncovered crucial aspects that shaped our future design iteration. Firstly, we discovered that the current site did not meet accessibility standards, emphasizing the need for inclusive design principles and practices. Secondly, educators expressed the importance of having comprehensive resources to cater to students' individual needs, highlighting the significance of personalized learning tools. Lastly, we identified a critical gap—a lack of a dedicated dashboard for educators to track their progress and gain a comprehensive understanding of their role within the Click Learning platform.
Armed with these key takeaways, we embarked on the development of a primary persona, journey map, and problem statement to fully understand the needs of our target audience before beginning our prototype design. By synthesizing our research findings, we ensured that our persona and journey map were informed and aligned with the needs of educators, ultimately fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for teaching and learning on Click Learning.
Problem Statement
Educators need a platform that provides the appropriate training and resources because they want to adapt to online teaching while making a tangible impact on students’ learning.
3. Solutions:
Ideating the
Blueprint for Success
Leveraging insights from our research, we honed in on critical pain points present on the Click Learning website. Our investigation revealed two primary areas for improvement: the application, onboarding, and training process, and the absence of a comprehensive educator dashboard.
To tackle the first challenge, we meticulously redesigned the application, onboarding, and training flows, aiming for enhanced efficiency and user-friendliness. By streamlining the steps and minimizing unnecessary repetition, we created a smoother experience that would significantly reduced drop-offs and frustration among educators. Moreover, we implemented clearer instructions and informative prompts to guide users through each stage of the process, ensuring a seamless transition onto the platform.
The second hurdle we tackled was the lack of a centralized dashboard. Recognizing the importance of empowering educators with valuable insights and resources, we designed a robust dashboard that became the heart of the Click Learning experience. This new feature provided educators with a comprehensive view of their progress, accessible student pages, a messaging system to foster communication, and a wallet management section for seamless financial transactions. Additionally, we integrated a curated collection of educational resources, supporting educators in catering to individual student needs and staying abreast of the latest teaching methodologies.

4. Development:
Lo-Fi to Hi-Fi Design
One of the pivotal enhancements we implemented was the introduction of a personalized dashboard, tailored specifically for educators. This dynamic dashboard encompassed a myriad of features, including a personalized educator wallet, enabling seamless financial transactions and streamlined management. We also integrated a messaging system to facilitate on-site communication, empowering educators to connect with students and fellow educators, fostering collaboration and support. Furthermore, we provided educators with a comprehensive student overview, enabling them to access individual student profiles, monitor progress, and tailor their teaching approach accordingly.
Recognizing the importance of ongoing training and support, we introduced a site-wide training process that could be accessed at any time. This training resource served as a valuable repository of information, guiding educators through various aspects of the platform, from navigating the dashboard to optimizing lesson plans and utilizing available resources. To make the onboarding process even more convenient, we streamlined it to be entirely conducted on the platform, with the exception of the necessary background checks.
To add an element of excitement and engagement, we gamified the process of matching educators with students. By incorporating interactive elements and rewards, we transformed the matching process into an enjoyable and motivating experience, fostering enthusiasm among educators.
By implementing these innovative solutions and streamlining the onboarding and training journey, we elevated Click Learning Co. into a dynamic educational platform that not only empowers educators but also fosters meaningful connections and continuous growth.
5. Visual Design:
How to Impact Accessibility & Inclusion
Keeping with Click Learning's style guide we were able to make small changes like the color scheme and font weight to ensure the site met accessibility standards.
6. Usability Testing:
Unveiling User Insights Through Testing
We conducted two rounds of usability testing on our prototype, ensuring that our design met the needs of educators. Following the first round, we made a few improvements on the location of certain call to action buttons based on valuable feedback received. In the second round, we achieved remarkable results and received positive feedback, confirming the effectiveness of our design solutions.
Through meticulous evaluation and transformative enhancements, we revolutionized the onboarding and training process for Click Learning Co., empowering educators and fostering engagement. The introduction of a personalized dashboard, streamlined onboarding, site-wide training resources, and gamified matching process all contributed to the platform's success. The two rounds of usability testing validated our design choices, resulting in a user-centric and impactful educational platform.
